Can't connect to remote MySql host

Hi, I have a MySql Db hosted by my isp which I can administer using phpmyadmin. Thing is I hate phpmyadmin, but love MySql Query Browser.

It looks like it should be a piece of cake to connect but whatever I try the connection fails......(10060)

I've tried the default port (3306), and some (not so) educated guesses like the ftp ports (20 & 21), http port (80). All ports I've tried I have made exceptions in my firewall (don't know if this matters). I've tried the IP address, the DNS address and the 'ftp' address - don't work.

I can connect easily using Dreamweaver while I'm developing so I get a live data view, so like I say it seems like it should be easy - what am I missing?

Any help greatly appreciated

Thanks for looking.
