converting .dat database to mySQL format

hello all.....

i have a project to build an CB information system.

as a database, i chose mySQL .

but, in some part of program, it needs input from .DAT or .DTA database format.

my question is :
What kind of database .DAT or .DTA is?

and, is it possible to convert it into mySQL format.
