Case sensitive column

Is there any way to make a varchar or text mysql table column case sensative?

quote from the manual under the section Case Sensitivity in Searches --
"If you want a column always to be treated in case-sensitive fashion,
declare it as BINARY. See section CREATE TABLE Syntax."

You can also use the keyword BINARY for making case sensitive comparisions

e.g. SELECT * FROM TABLE WHERE BINARY colname='what ever text'

Check out charsets and collations. Binary is not necessarily the answer.
