I am in the process of finalising the database to be used for our organisation for OLTP application. Basically we are looking for opensource databases. The two database being evaluated are MySQL and Ingres. I want to know is there any comparison made between these two(latest). If available pl send to me. vel@shar.gov.in

Mysql at one time did not offer transactions, foreign key support, triggers, stored procedures or cursors. So it has most certainly grown from its beginnings.

Actually there's also another database out there that I've been using. RDM Server from Birdstep Raima database division. I'm pretty happy with it. When we did our benchmarks, they've performed over 150% better than MySQL and Postgre SQL in inserting, updating, and thousands% better on queries. Its something you may want to consider. (^_^)
