Question mysql - table updation

Hi
i have a requirement in mysql.i need to update a table.In a sec there can be thousands of updates.when iam trying to do these the updates are not done fast hence data is getting pended.Could anyone please suggest some soultion?

the system i am uding for this operation is of very high configuration.

not thousands ,hunderds of updates per sec

data is from some live feed
similar to data of stock excange
