Question host says there is a fragmentation issue

Hi,

I had my hosting company upgrade my dedi server earlier, so they had to reboot. After they did that, none of my wordpress blogs or any sites dependent on mysql were working...they were either giving mysql errors or showing the default wordpress install page (despite the existence of posts).

They told me that the databases had all become fragmented, so they ran some kind of repair script, and after they did that, I'm missing a number of recent posts.

Did they mess something up? How can *all* the databases on a server be fragmented? Does it make sense that I'd lose the most recent 8-9 records after a repair?
