Just play around with Heidi SQL. It is super easy to use and edit columns of data. I use it to manage all of my local databases as well as DBs on remote website hosts. Good luck!

This thread is great. I've had an article directory where the mySQL database went totally wrong and I couldn't figure out why. In the end I had to pay a fortune to get it sorted. These resources mentioned are great and will really help me get on top of things and save money.

Exactly, you can learn a lot just by checking the newbie section in the mysql forum. Gain some basic knowledge and do a lot of training and experimenting working with tables etc.

Okay so I'm just wondering, has something changed at dbforums or did we just break the all time record for most new posters in a thread?

Welcome to all.

what has changed is the influx of new members who appear to be web developers and/or "seo experts" as opposed to database developers

where they come from, i dunno

i'm guessing one of the other iNet web properties has placed a convenient link to here, in a manner similar to how dbforums has placed links to two other iNet properties on the main page here -- dBforums - Database Support Community

i can see why they would do it from their perspective (more page views, more ads, more revenue)

i don't think they can quite see what it's doing to us here, though

Try the dev files online

I've always had good luck learning from MySQL :: Developer Zone. It's not a book, but it has a lot of stuff to help you learn.

I'm still learning myself, but I do find tons of answers on their pages.

about a book for learning MySQL

I think is not necessary to buy a specific book, you can go to google and write :

"MySQL Tutorial" and you will find a lot of web sites that you can learn.

Good Luck.
