C compiler for MYSQL

Hi,
I have Redhat Linux7.2 with mysql installed. I want to run embeded C code which will access the data from MYSQL. I think esql compiler is needed. but i don't where i will get that compiler and how to insatll. Pls help me out, how to acheive this. Thanks in advance.
