fetch desired rows

hello,
I've a large table containing forum's posts.
It would be very nice using a query to fetch desired number of rows..(from n to k) is there sql syntax to do so?

Code:

LIMIT n,x

where x is k-n. x gives the total number of records fetched, n gives you the first record to start from.
