Should I purge*.lck files ?

Hi All,

I have an 11g database.
In the ADR sub directories there is a lck directory with many *.lck files.

Do you know what they are for and which process creates them?
Do I need to purge them like the *.trc and *.trm files in the trace directory?

Thanks in advance,
Patrick
