Exclamation ORA-01031: insufficient privileges when logging in as "/ as sysdba"
Hi,

I installed Oracle9i Enterprise Edition yesterday. The installation was successful and a starter database was created. It is running fine. However, when I tried to do sqlplus '/ as sysdba' while logging in as Oracle user in UNIX, I got 'insufficient privilege'. I know my sys and system passwords but how can I log in as sysdba successfully. I need that to startup and shutdown the database. Please help...

Never mind... I got it. The Oracle user was not set up with the right dba group. Once it is corrected. I was able to log as without any problems.
