.dat .dbd .idx

I have been asked by a client to recover data which utilises the above extensions. I can view the .dat files in notepad but with a lot of rubbish as well. How do I retrieve the data or which software/database is used to view the data?

It looks like it might be old Paradox files. You might be able to open it up with MS Access.
