This major release adds an embedded version of MonetDB/SQL, which allows
use of MonetDB/SQL without communication overhead. To allow for such a
feature major improvements where made. Optional compilation of core features was added which allows for reduced memory footprints. Lock
overhead is removed in single user mode, which showed performance
impovements of up to 50 percent.

Besides this new feature the SQL frontends now uses stricter SQL'99 types.
The SQL parsers reported errors have greatly improved.
The perl/DBI interface has been completely revamped.
