SQL is not a database, it's a language.

And whether MySQL is the best is really debatable (from my point of view it simply lacks too many SQL features to make it good)

OK, I will share you my experiences on Oracle,Sqlserver,DB2,Mysql

Oracle : more scalable ,Best security , very stable And good at performance
DB2: Best Performance and optimal query time
Sqlserver : easy to maintain,it was record Medium degree on all Measurements,Very easy to monitor and design

PostgreSQL is far superior to MySQL and it's really free

If money is not a problem... Then go for Oracle/DB2
else go for postgres, though mysql is also a open source still now it is with oracle, need to spend on licence....

but feature wise Oracle leads the way, followed by DB2, which looks more secure, and performance is good aswelll..

otherwise go for postgres...
