Btrieve/Pervasive and Archserve on Netware 6

We have a dilemna, an application that runs on Netware 6 server uses a Pervasive 6 (btrieve) database, Archserv uses a btrieve database for internal data manipulation.

Because of issues during backup that cause locked .dta files(and require a server reboot) , the application vendor says that we must turn off the btrieve service before performing the backup. However, btrieve cannot shutdown for the backup to run.

Anyone with experience in this?
