Question Cheap ODBC from SQL to Progress?

Wanting to connect to a progress database from SQL Server 2000. Happens once per night as a batch job, just to update some tables. However, Merant wants to charge me US$8000 for a server licence! My arguments about this being a client connection were ignored.

Does any one know how I can do this cheaply??????

Thanks,
Paul.

Hi Paul,

Your kidding... daft thing to say cause obviously your not
that does sound a little steep...

Have a look over here http://www.openlinksw.com

you can get a single Tier Driver for Progress which will allow you to do just this and I somehow doubt it will cost you anywhere near that price... and I mean anywhere near in a cheaper sense

if you are interested download the driver for evaluation test to ensure it works, then give us a shout for a quote, if you let me know about it, I will see what I can do about getting you a good deal...
