Question Access Unidata database from a linux client.

Hello.

We are using Unidata 5.1 and noticed that there is an ODBC driver that allows Microsoft based clients to access the Unidata database tables.

Is there also a driver for Linux based clients? If so, what is the protocol? Our interest in this is for the ability to create our own applications to access the Unidata database directly without using a telnet terminal session. I noticed that the ODBC driver for windows allows for SQL equivalent queries. Can I simply write a linux client program to access the Unidata server using standard SQL protocol? Or is there a special library to download?

I look forward to any enlightment in this matter.

Regards,
trode
