sql server 2000

I have developed an application in vb 6.0 with a database Ms Sql server 2000, using Ado 2.5 for connection.
I have installed the application and the Client part of Sql Server.
All ok on machine with S.O. Xp but on computer with S.O. windows 98 i received an error message : Timeout scaduto.
Why?
Many greetings for who gives me an answer to resolve problem.
