Perl to call oracle stored procedure

i am a newbie to perl scripting. we are using oracle 9i and aix platform. how can i call an oracle procedure on a perl script? currently we do not have the DBI.pm installed. we know we still could use the perl script to call an oracle stored procedure even without using the DBI.pm feature. can anyone post a sample code? thanks.
