Embedded database invisible to control center?

Hello,

I recently installed "Diamant for Windows" , a program which uses a pervasive database to store its data. It needs the engine to be running, but I don't know how to access its data. I can't find any .DDF-files. There are lots of .DAT-files, though.

I need to be able to connect through ODBC, so I can make the data accesable through our intranetserver.

Thanks

Bart

If you don't see DDFs, then the first thing you should do is contact the vendor and ask for the DDFs. If that doesn't work, you'll need to know the exact record layout so you can build DDFs using Create Table SQL statements or the Create Table Wizard.

DDF's

I Don't think the vendor is very eager to help us access the database. They sell web-modules themselves for redicously large amounts.

But what you're telling is, that though the software can access the database without DDF's, there is no way for me to reconstruct the database structure?

The only way to properly create DDFs is to know the exact record layout. The app doesn't need DDFs because it knows the layout.

DDF and server-client; "Guessing" ddf recovery tool

Are there no tools that kan re-create ddf's bij making educated guesses based on the data?

The App will eventually be used in client/server mode, using pervasive server and pervasive client. In that scenario, will there also be no possibility to access the data directly?

YOu really need the exact record layout. A good article on how to access Pervasive data through ODBC is available at http://www.goldstar-sw.com/btrvodbc.asp.
