We upgraded from Perv. 8.6 to Perv. 10. I want to add the reference of the pervasive v10 data provider in my VB.Net programme.
I can't see the provider in the list.
It seems like the new Data client is not installed yet?

Does somebody know what i'm missing here?

You can browse to the DLL when adding a reference. It's at C:\program files\Pervasive Software\psql\bin\3.0\Pervasive.Data.SqlClient.DLL .
If you want to see it in the Server Explorer, you need the design time components. They are available at Pervasive Software - Developer Center. You'll either need the 3.0 or 3.2 components depending on which patch level of v10 you are using.

I was hoping you could help. I have not programmed in a long time so this might take some time

I am using Visual Studio 2008, VB.net and pervasive 9.60.

I want to add the pervasive reference to the project but cannot seem to find it, have started reading the material on the pervasive website but as usual am getting a bit impatient with all the reading.

Was wondering if you can give me a hand.

For PSQL 9.60, you need to install the ADO.NET 2.2 SDK from the Pervasive website. Once installed, you will add the Pervasive.Data.SqlCLient.DLL as a reference and then add an IMPORTS Pervasive.Data.SqlClient to the top of your module.
You will not be able to use an of the Visual Studio tools or wizards. The only version of the provider that integrates in VS 2008 is the v10.10 version (DLL version 3.2). You will have to write code to access the Pervasive driver (using PsqlConnection, PsqlCommand, PsqlDataReader, etc). If you have further questions, start a new thread either here or at any of the forums I participate in.
