Red face Pervasive sql & btrieve conflicts

due to hardware failure I had to reinstall software. My accounting software uses Pervasive SQL V8 and is located locally on my hard drive. I am trying to access our point of sale software that uses Btrieve. This software is located on a server. The point of sale will not launch. I have contacted the accounting software provider but the version is no longer supported. We had them working prior to the crash. Any ideas?

A few questions:
- What version of Btrieve is on the server?
- What's the actual error when launching the point of sale software?
- Are you trying to launch both apps at the same time? If so, does it matter what order you load the applications?

I was unable to locate the information for the version of Btrieve on the server. The pos software gives me an echo off message then pulsing cursor. I haven't found any situation that allows me to launch the pos.

Is the POS software DOS based?
Do you launch the POS software using a batch file? If so, post it.
What's the exact version of PSQL installed on the workstation?

Without knowing what's actually "hanging", it's going to be hard to give any suggestions. My guess would be that the POS system has a misconfiguration. Maybe it can't find a config file or a data file.
