In addition to registering an engine, you must create a database / data source name on the server. Once your server is listed, you should be able to select "add database" and then put the DDF and data path along with a name.
I haven't used PSQL 2000i since it went unsupported in March 2003.

Hi,

This is a big part of my problem......it is old technology and an old (as you confirmed unsupported) version. The people who are supposed to know how to use it are either too lazy or too scared to try and move into the 21st Century. I feel as if I am slowly making progress and am determined to move this forward. We cant sit around relying on old tech much longer

Thanks for your help. I will try and set up a DSN on the server and then try to connect from a client.

Thanks
P

I understand. I know of a very large accounting package that used an extremely old version of Btrieve for many years after it went unsupported only because they didn't want to move to the newer version.

One thing you might try if you are willing is to take a test server, install the PSQL v11 server, copy the data over to the test server, and try the application with the v11 engine. Your vendor may not support it but you would get full access to the newer options including a better ODBC driver, ADO.NET, and better SQL engine.
