I'm new in the world of Btrieve database.

Does anyone know which would be the best way to transfer a Btrieve database to an Oracle one?

Converting to flat files and importing them could be a good way but if other more direct ways or tools exists, it would be cool and faster...

One way to accomplish this is with the Export Wizard, which you access from the Pervasive Control Center. See Chapter 3 in the Pervasive.SQL User's Guide for an explanation of the Export Wizard. You may access the Pervasive.SQL documentation a couple of ways:

For best results, use the latest Export Wizard, which is part of Pervasive.SQL version 8 (Pervasive.SQL V*8). The output from prior versions of the Export Wizard contains an indicator depending on whether a column can be made null. You'll notice a "0" or "1" before a column depending on whether the nullable column contains data. You'll have to remove these indicators because Oracle will not know how to interpret them on import.

The Export Wizard for version 8 does not contain the indicators in the output. The output is a standard, comma delimited file.

The data files do not have to be version 8 format.
