Pervasive Services not restarting

We use Pervasive services to access btrieve files constantly.

The system can run without problem for weeks at a time, however there are periods (like now! ha!) when the Pervasive services (both transactional and relational) stop functioning.

The first symptom is an error message from a VB application that uses ODBC to connect.

Also, all web services using the databases produce connection errors.

The only solution seems to be aserver reboot, as the services won;t restart either through the control center or manually through the W2K sevices manager.

HELP ME!!!!! aaaaaaaaaaargh.

Re: Pervasive Services not restarting

Please post the contents of your PVSW.LOG. That might help tell what's wrong. Also, what version of Pervasive are you using?

Hiya,

Thanks for getting back.

I've attached a chunk of the log file - and there does seem to be a correlation between the crashes and the SPX network protocol errors. TCP/IP is the only network protocol installed on the server.

Any more feedback GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks,

Tom

The SPX message can be cured by removing SPX from the list of Supporte Protocols for Pervasive. What version of Pervasive are you using? Make sure you're using the latest patch release for the version.
