Pervasive 2000 to Pervasove 8.5

we have some new software that requires 8.5 and we are curtrnetly using 2000 for another database can i install whem independently. Also we have 2o licenses for 2000 and what will happen to them when we upgrade...the new software comes with 5 licenses free and we need the others as well.
