Question Unanswered: About changing system tables on tempdb

    hi,
i'm trying to optimize the utilisation of the tempdb by an application (already in use).
this application overuse the tempdb, and that results in an great amount of locks.
i asked the application manager to change its code, but before these modifications arrived, i thought about changing the lock scheme of some system tables, by passing them to datarows.

my question is... is this dangerous ? may it cause some problems ?

    thanx,
    err1

    But...

changing the locking scheme of system tables is not supported.
You will get error 4965: "Lock scheme conversion on system tables not supported."

Use Multiple Tempdb available in 12503 onwards, you can manage the contention by binding login or groups to non-default tempdb's
