    Unanswered: Performance in 8.1.7

I have a single query that returns only one row (but can retrieve several rows). Even when returning a single row, Oracle takes approximately 1 minute to retrieve this line. Iīm using an explicit cursor and the database "stops" in the fetch command. I tried to use for loop but even this it takes a while to process. (database Oracle 8.1.7, server Windows 2003, client Windows 2000). Anyone can help me ?

Set tracing on the session and run tkprof on the .trc file ... Post the results if you still need to ... The tkprof will show you the sql statements processed and the path Oracle took to retreive the data ...

    Hi,

Hope this helps.... *please* let me know if so, I often post this link but rarely get feedback as to if it's any use. Comments/Critiscisms are helpful, silence isn't...

Please don't email me directly with questions. I've probably just got home from the pub and cannot guarantee the sanity of my answers. In fact, I can't believe I actually made it home.
