Question Unanswered: mysql causing linux disk swap?

I have a dedicated box running php/mysql. I am experiencing swapping to disk, even though I have a Gig of ram, and the queries (as far as I know) take advantage of index. I am running phpnuke.

Why do I see swapping even when I have lots of free space?

    Here is "free" results:
total used free shared buffers cached
    Mem: 1012340 990892 21448 0 69980 790056
    -/+ buffers/cache: 130856 881484
    Swap: 2040212 73036 1967176
I am getting really desperate!! Please help.

This is a well known bug of RH (I am assuming you are running on RH9)
