    Hi, I have a field linked to a checkbox:

    -----------------------------------
    Private Sub MyField_AfterUpdate()
    Select Case Me.Checkbox.Value

    Case Is = True
    Me.MyField.Enabled = True

    Case Else
    Me.MyField.Enabled = False
    Me.MyField.Value = Null

    End Select
    End Sub

    ---------------------------------

    The thing is, that the code works (I can't use the field unless the checkbox is true) BUT the field doesn't go grey on enabled. WHat am I overlooking here?

    PLEASE HELP!! thanks, CHarlotte

    You cannot disable a control whilst it has the focus ...
    Back to Access ... ADO is not the way to go for speed ...

    hi,

    the thing is that the control is disabled but it doesn't show. All the checkboxes that I am disabling at the same time go grey when disabled, but the textbox stays white but is just as disabled as the others.

    Check to see the 'triple state' setting on the check box. You should have it set to no.

    if thats not it try using the locked property instead of or in addition to enabled.
