    Question Unanswered: CPU utilization: call sp_name(); vs begin sp_name(); end;

    In our very big enterprise application we got much less CPU utilization when we went from call sp_name(...) to begin sp_name(); end;
    Conditions:
    Oracle 9.2.0.1.0
    WebLogic 8.1
    Oracle JDBC Driver version - 9.0.2.0.0
    CallableStatement

    Example:

    private static final String POPULATE_DATA =
    "BEGIN\n PKG.POPULATE_DATA(?, ?, ?, ?);\nEND";

    con = ConnectionFactory.getConnection(userContext);
    statement = new CallableStatement(con, POPULATE_DATA);

    statement.setInt(1, xxx);
    ....

    statement.execute();

    rs = (ResultSet)statement.getObject(3);
    ....

    Does enybody have any idea why it's happening (I mean less CPU utilization)? Kind of scary when there is no explanation.

    Thanks
    Max
