    Unanswered: DB CLI Interface

I read documentation for Db2 CLI interface and did not find information how to
possible use it with remote server.

If do following call on computer where db2 is not installed then call is fail
and function return -1. If do call on computer where DB2 installed
then call is passes and function return 0.

    Status := SqlAllocHandle(SQL_HANDLE_ENV, SQL_NULL_HANDLE, @FEnvHandle);

APIs like SqlAllocHandle etc are provided by CLI which is a part of the DB2 installation ..

So, you will have to install a DB2 client atleast to use the CLI functions ...

Using the CLI from remote client is not much different from using it on a local db server (You will have to catalog the remote database on your client)

    I downloaded DB2 runtime client (FP6_WR21340_RTCL.exe 67Mb) and downloaded db2ite80.pdf - Quick Beginnings for DB2 Clients.

There is pdf file "Chapter 6. Configuring client-to-server communications using the command line processor" I found that

    3. Catalog the node by entering the following commands from a db2 prompt:
catalog tcpip node node_name remote hostname|ip_address\
    server service_name|port_number\
    [remote_instance instance_name] [system system_name] [ostype os_type]
    terminate

I executed command line processor from "C:\Program Files\IBM\SQLLIB\BIN\DB2CW.BAT" and get error

SQL1390C The environment variable DB2INSTANCE is not defined or is invalid.

also follwing command is not work too

catalog tcpip node db2node remote 192.168.0.3 server 3700 terminate

    What do I wrong?
