    Unanswered: MTS_DISPATCHERS (urgent!)

    Hi everybody,
does anybody can help me with this:

    Connected.
ORA-00101: invalid specification for system parameter MTS_DISPATCHERS
    CREATE DATABASE "ADS"
    *
    ORA-01034: ORACLE not available
    Disconnected.

this is the log file of the ORACLE_BASE/admin/myinstance/create directory produced trying to create a new db instance on my Oracle 8.1.7 (with Sun Solaris). One instance is already done and works properly...

    it's very urgent...

    thankx a lot

A valid entry in the initxxx.ora file would be something to the effect of:

    mts_dispatchers='tcp,3'

    yes, but....

the thing is i'm crating a new instance through dbassist. that means when i get that error, i still haven't any initxxx.ora file.
and moreover, i set the shared server mode...

I create my own scripts for any db creation... I use the assistant, just to setup the listener/tnsnames, etc ... It builds fairly decent files that you can "gut" and replace with your own tablespaces, sizes, etc ...,

BUT .... You should already have an INITxxx.ORA file before you try to create the instance ...

    ex:
    set ORACLE_SID=newinstance
C:\Oracle\Ora81\bin\oradim -new -sid NEWSID -intpwd PASSWORD -startmode manual -pfile "C:\Oracle\admin\...\pfile\initxxx.ora"

That gets the instance created ... Then you run svrmgrl - startup/nomount
so that you can CREATE DATABASE ....
