Unanswered: FTP files with original date

Hello. Is there anyway to FTP files in a way that the original date shows as it is in the new location? I checked man ftp it doesn's offer any options about the date. I wonder if this is ever possible.
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks. I found a solution - tar all the files, ftp, and untar - it will show the original date.
