Unanswered: Restoring database from copy of datafiles

    Hi,

I need to set up a Standby database using a copy of datafiles of the primery database. (An SQL backup of the database is not an option).

Is there any option to restore a database from datafiles?
Or is there an option to attach database but into an standby mode?

    Please advice,
    Zvi Gilinsky

When life gives you a lemon, fire the DBA.

Why so negative, Derrick? Of course you can attach! But the bigger issue (unless it's not an issue) will be to have to detach the db on the source server. Are you willing to dedicate a window for your production database to be inaccessible while you're doing your detaching and copying?
