    Angry Unanswered: Close Session / Disconnect from Oracle

    Hi Peeps

    I have an application and due to bad design, I am stuck with a problem. The same user can log in multiple places at the same time.

    I need to know the syntax or way for me to disconnect this person from Oracle or Close down their session.

    I only connect to Oracle with 1 username but I log (in a table) when a user logs in and logs out, the dates and times as well. So, I want to create a Trigger on that table that simply says. If already logged in(I have that part of the trigger) then disconnect PC from Oracle or Close this session (thats the part I need help with)....

    I was trying to use ALTER SESSION CLOSE DATABASE LINK TESTDB, but that doesnt seem to work or I cant get it to work properly.

    This is really urgent and would appreciate any help or advice possible.

    Thank you

    Hi,

    You could create a new profile with
    SESSIONS_PER_USER = 1
    and have
    IDLE_TIME = 3 # (minutes I believe)

    And assign this profile to your user.

    You should set resource_limit = true in your init.ora

    This should allow the user to have one login and will terminate any session idle for more than 3 minutes.

    Is this the sort of thing you are looking for ?

    Rgs,
    Breen.
