    Unanswered: Format date as text

I am running a code that calculates various dates and outputs the results to a field on a form. However, when a certain condition is met, I wish to output text instead of date. When I try this I get an error message, how can I go about outputting a regular text message/string in a field that is formated as date?? I keep getting an error message that says "The macro or function set to the before update or validation rule property for this field is preventing MS Access from saving the data on the field" HELP!
    Thank you

Do you have the formatting for the field set to a date-type format? That'd be the problem.

Sorry but the format string you gave me for some reason is returning the following

    12/20/78 "X"
Where X is the value of the string I am trying to display.....
