hi everyone
we just had a problem on a 11.9.2 server...we sent it a request which was too long (too much ORs or ANDs... error 404).
we found the bad request, no problem with that : it's really a bad one (dynamically constructed, the result is a real abomination).
the problem is that when we sent the SAME request, on another sqlServer instance installed on the SAME NT-server (so with the same ASE version, the same EBF, ...) we dont receive the error 404, but the error 702 ! which provokes a stack trace, and shuts down the client connection...

we tried to find the differences between the two sqlServers, but we found nothing special in the configuration files...
just memory differences, recovery interval in minutes, number of devices, number of user connections, ...
nothing really important for what we were looking for...

the 2 errors are quite about the same problem : the request is too long. but why one server gives us the 'good' error 404, and the other the 702 ?!

THANKS for anyone who has an idea...

here are listed the specification for the two errors :
error 404 : Too many ANDs or ORs in expression (limit %d per expression level). Try splitting query or limiting ANDs and ORs.
(there are actually too much ANDs and ORs, this error is the good one)

error 702 : Memory request for %d bytes exceeds the size of single page of %d bytes.
This error occurs when you exceed any of the following limits: 128 search conditions or join operations in a SQL statement.

nb : we tried the same request on a 12.5.03 server, and there was none of these errors... the optimizer should have correct some redondancies on it before sending it.
