    Unanswered: Extproc with oracle9i

    Hi everybody,

    I have oracle 9i installed and try to get extproc working. I edited configuration files like that:

    listener.ora
    MY_LISTENER =
    (DESCRIPTION_LIST =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = dbserver)(PORT = 1521))
    )
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC))
    )
    )

    SID_LIST_MY_LISTENER =
    (SID_LIST =
    (SID_DESC =
    (GLOBAL_DBNAME = my_database)
    (PROGRAM = extproc.exe)
    (SID_NAME = PLSExtProc)
    (ORACLE_HOME = d:\oracle\ora92\bin)
    )
    )

    tnsnames.ora
    EXTPROC_CONNECTION_DATA =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(Key = EXTPROC))
    )
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SID = PLSExtProc)
    )
    )

    MY_DATABASE =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = dbserver)(PORT = 1521))
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(Key = EXTPROC))
    )
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SID = dbs)
    (SERVER = DEDICATED)
    )
    )

    "tnsping extproc_connection_data" says "OK <0ms>"

    but when I start the extproc test with on SQL*Plus Worksheet:
    "exec ctxsys.ctx_adm.test_extproc;"

    following error occures:
    FEHLER in Zeile 1:
    ORA-20000: Oracle Text-Fehler:
    DRG-50704: Net8-Listener wird nicht ausgeführt oder kann externe Prozeduren nicht starten
    ORA-28575: RPC-Verbindung mit externer Prozedurverarbeitung kann nicht geöffnet werden
    ORA-06512: in "CTXSYS.DRUE", Zeile 157
    ORA-06512: in "CTXSYS.CTX_ADM", Zeile 286
    ORA-06512: in Zeile 1

    I need the IFilter function to get plain text out of pdf file, but when I try so I get following error:
    ORA-06510: PL/SQL: Unbehandelte benutzerdefinierte Ausnahmebedingung (exception)
    ORA-06512: in "CTXSYS.CTX_DOC", Zeile 1140
    ORA-06510: PL/SQL: Unbehandelte benutzerdefinierte Ausnahmebedingung (exception)
    ORA-06512: in Zeile 1

    and in listener.log appears the following:
    TNS-12500: TNS: Listener konnte einen dedizierten Server-Prozess nicht starten
    TNS-12560: TNS: Protokolladapterfehler
    TNS-00530: Protokolladapter-Fehler
    32-bit Windows Error: 2: No such file or directory

    Listener could not start a dedicated server process. But I can use the DB over TCP/IP all the time.. (I now got second listener process in windows services list)

    I do not know what to do.. I do not even know what the problem is, whether it is a configuration or rights problem? I am new to oracle and do need help. I searched the web and read the book already. Nothing helped yet.

    Please help.
    Roman.

    http://asktom.orcle.com has a working example
    You can lead some folks to knowledge, but you can not make them think.
    The average person thinks he's above average!
    For most folks, they don't know, what they don't know.
    Good judgement comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgement.
