Unanswered: Cannot insert more than 4000 characters in a CLOB field

    Hi everyone,

I have a table that contains a CLOB field. However, whenever I do an insert with strings > 4K in length it returns an "ORA-01704: string literal too long exception. I thought CLOB fields are supposed to be 4GB in length.

Is there some special preparation that I have to do when inserting in such fields??

Hope someone can help me with it.

    Thanx,

    Pankaj

You can lead some folks to knowledge, but you can not make them think.
The average person thinks he's above average!
For most folks, they don't know, what they don't know.
Good judgement comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgement.
