    Unanswered: How to remove character in a Alpha-Numeric Field

    Hi,
    I have a Field in a table called "JR001","JR002","JR003"..... once the Numbers get into 4 digits, the "R" in the JR goes away. How to do this in Access, if i need to do programatically can you help me in writing the program for this..I appreciate your help.
    Thanks

    Lightbulb

    What I understood you have a filed in a table with the values
    "JR001"
    "JR002"
    "JR003"
    And you want to remove the JR from it.

    IF the construction of your data is so that always the first two digits have Alphabet while the rest have a numeric value then use the Mid$ function to get the numeric value
    yourNumeric= Mid$(yourFiledValue,3, Len(yourFiledValue)-2)
    you can do that in a Update Quary
