    Unanswered: Common field

    Hi,
I have 10 tables which give information about machine parts, each table for certain machine. I have in each table a description field of the part. But I see that most of the parts has the same description because the machines are similar.
How I can get out this field from the tables and to make a description table to the parts in the all machines? Whick king of relationship should I define between the tables and the description table?

You can solve this problem with sub-types.

    Solution:

    master(machine_id, description, type)
    machine1(machine_id, ...)
    machine2(machine_id, ...)
    etc.

    OR

    master-table(machine_id, desc, machine1ATT, machine2ATT, ...)

Now, which method do you choose?
