Not sure if this is the answer, but I found this explanation in some release notes for version 7.1:

"To create SQL stored procedures on the server, the application development client (as well as a compiler) must be installed on the server. Otherwise, the create operation will fail with a message indicating that db2udp.dll cannot be loaded."

do I need to update the instance after installing the application development client. I think that the libraries goes under sqllib/function.

I guess the answer is Yes ...

Have you applied the fixpack (same level as your existing installation) after installing ADCL ??

Infact I didn't install any thing on that box.
The enviroment that I have been thrown comes under my control from other department.what I need is to install adcl and this party application needs to compile and run some stored procedures.these will be my steps.

    1. install the adcl as root.

The question comes here do I need to apply the fixpaks at that moment or the installation will linked it automatically.

    2. update all the instances.

    regards,

    mujeeb
