    Unanswered: Extending a database

    Hey all,

I am currently trying to increase the size of my production database. I have created a 3Gb device and am now attempting to allocate all 3Gb to my db.. I am running 12.0.0.7 on NT. The error I am receiving is:

Extending database by xx pages on disk xx
I/O failed while attempting to clear pages starting at page xx of disk number xx. The SQL Server is terminating this process..

When trying to extend by 3Gb I get the error, however if I extend by 10Mb or 100Mb it works fine.. I have not run out of space on the drive..

Any ideas what might cause this? I can continue to add the smaller chunks but at the moment are reluctant to in case of larger underlying problems..

    Any feedback welcome.. Thanks,
