    Unanswered: re-connect after format

    dear friends
    I have the following problem and hope to help me:
    I installed oracle 8 on my pc on the c partition
    and created a db on the d partition
    and then i had to format the c partition and then reinstalled the system and oracle
    How i can reconnect to my db on the d partion???????????

    Assuming that you've attempted to connect to the database & have failed, what (if any) error messages were you given?

    Have you checked the tnsnames file to see if the entries are OK?

    Do you have a backup of the database? (perhaps you could start all over again & then recreate the database from the backup)

    There's a few things to consider here, so if you could give a bit more detail about what you've tried, what happened (or didn't happen), etc we could help you more.

    dear cis groupie
    after I reinstalled the oracle
    I didn't know how 2 reconnect to the db
    and how shall i tell oracle that the db is on the d partition in a
    particular folder
    also my situiation here is without backup
