Angry Unanswered: Run Time Error 3035 System Resource Exceeded

I'm using Access2000/DAO 3.6 to alter database (alter database alter column) and am changing the type of one column from char to varchar).
The col is 50 chars and the dbase is 173,952KB.

When executing, I get the msg: run time error 3035 - system resource exceeded.

I really need to alter this column to a varchar programmably.

    Any ideas?

varchar is not a supported type in Access ... Text is the character type. And remember the 255 character limit for it also.
Back to Access ... ADO is not the way to go for speed ...

Ok - changed my alter statement alter column from varchar to text - still get the error message. I'm linking this data to sqlserver 2k later (they use the varchar) and I need the col types to match.

Ah ... Well. You were correct then. You need to explain that detail (SQL Server linking) tho so that people don't try to correct something that is not wrong...
