Unanswered: What version of TDS (Tabular Data Stream) comes with Open Client 12.5?

What version of TDS (Tabular Data Stream) comes with Open Client 12.5?

We are trying to connect to an SQL Server 2000 using the isql utility but have found informaiton on the Microsoft site indicating a compatibility issue with TDS 5.0. It looks like TDS 4.2 is compatible.

If TDS 5.0 comes with Open Client 12.5, is it possible to down rev to TDS 4.2?

Sybase has been on TDS 4.6 for a long time, 12.0.x and 12.5.x use TDS 5.

To connect to SQL 2000, you may have to resort of OLEDB or ODBC inteface or purchase Direct Connect

Alternatively, you could try out FreeTDS ( www.freetds.org ). This is an open source implementation of the TDS protocol, including an implementation of dblibrary ctlibrary and a "bcp" executable. FreeTDS implements all known versions of the TDS protocol, allowing programs to communicate with both Sybase and MS SQL databases.
In order to use something like isql, use sqsh 2.1 ( www.sqsh.org ), together with FreeTDS.
