    Unanswered: ORA-28575: unable to open RPC connection to external procedure agent

    Hi,
    I am getting the below mentioned error while trying to execute the external procedure.

    ORA-28575: unable to open RPC connection to external procedure agent
    ORA-06512: at "SYSTEM.ARUNAVA4", line 0
    ORA-06512: at line 1

    where ARUNAVA4 is the procedure name.

    My listener.ora file is :

    LISTENER =
    (DESCRIPTION_LIST =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = amp-nt1)(PORT = 1521))
    )
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC0))
    )
    )
    )

    SID_LIST_LISTENER =
    (SID_LIST =
    (SID_DESC =
    (SID_NAME = advent)
    (ORACLE_HOME = D:\oracle\ora81)
    (GLOBAL_DBNAME = advent)
    )
    (SID_DESC =
    (SID_NAME = PLSExtProc)
    (ORACLE_HOME = D:\oracle\ora81)
    (PROGRAM = extproc)
    )
    )

    And my tnsnames.ora file :
    ADVENT.INDIA.ADVENTNET.COM =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = amp-nt1)(PORT = 1521))
    )
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVICE_NAME = advent)
    )
    )

    #EXTPROC_CONNECTION_DATA.INDIA.ADVENTNET.COM =
    # (DESCRIPTION =
    # (ADDRESS_LIST =
    # (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC0))
    # )
    # (CONNECT_DATA =
    # (SID = PLSExtProc)
    # (PRESENTATION = RO)

    # )
    # )

    can u point out where I am making the mistake...

    Regards,
    Arunava

    Try this thread:

    Read the thread to see if it gives you a solution, if not try Oracle's Metalink.

    excerpt from dbforum thread:

    "There could be more then one reason for getting 28575. Check DocID 70638.1 at Oracle's Metalink for detailed resolution. http://metalink.oracle.com"
    90% of users' problems can be resolved by punching them - the other 10% by switching off their PCs.
