    Angry Unanswered: Mounting a databse

    I have 2 database on OEM One I have SYSDBA(Mine) rights the other(HIS) I dont. On His the development team need to have access at all times. Do to resent events the server that the databases reside on crashed multiple times in recent days and a upgrade was needed.

    ???? I need to test backup and recovery procedures on DB1 Mine and by mounting the database will it have any affect on DB2 His?????

    Not if you do everything correctly, but I doubt this will be the case.
    You might want to invest in VMWARE so each of you can have your own sandbox system isolated from each other, buy a 2nd PC, or learn to play nice together.

    Wink Enteresting(Mounting databases)

    We just got it. I'm here and the guy who mention getting it for the group is donw on the beach. A "East coast Beach". The software is on the box but not setup. ???Will this VMware have some type of gui that can be used or assist with backups for the oracle databases????

    Fresh out of USC, UCLA etc... Yeah I was a coder 20 years ago. We had real code, COBOL, FORTRAN, hell, a program was 5000 lines of code min. So I consulted for the passed 10+yrs. So when you dont have time to write/develop it. There guy like you who always has something already done. Remember Lions At the Gate(Microsoft vs Apple) Hope you 23rd year in this industry is so pleasent.

    I wrote my 1st program in 1968 in Univac assembler.
    I 've written commercial s/w in Fortran, Cobol, PL/1, Basic, Pascal, C, C++, BASH/KORN, Perl, PHP, SQL & PL/SQL.

    This would be Paradise for you. We support the Military Complex overhere if you know what I mean. Mostly taking the old to the new. I've just found that I'm not a pure coder anymore. I find a template, software and modify it for my task.

    I hardly consider the DC area paradise. It's too hot & humid for me.

    The camera is mounted at the main Del Mar Life Guard station at the foot of 17th Street.
    From my house I go 1 mile west to the beach & then 1 mile south to the Life Guard station for my daily run.
    I'm just living & enjoying paradise.

    Cool Ok, Mounting databases

    Ok, This is too weird, I know I was working on the weekend and testing some new stuff but you might want to get back in the saddle for the real world. I cant adopt you but I can put you with some of my recruiters who will gladly put you to work from coast to coast.
