Unanswered: MS security patch kills Sybase replication

    Howdy,

I inheritted a pair of old NT4 servers (sp6a) that are running Sybase SQL Anywhere Version 5.5 and replicate to each other via Sybase SQL Remote Message Agent Version 5.5.04 Build #2006.

When I apply MS security patch MS04-011 (can be found at:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sec.../ms04-011.mspx) the dbremote.log indicates that the Message Agent service can't connect to the database.

Uninstalling the security patch restores replication to it's normal, reliable self.

    More information listed below.

Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated, thanks.

    B.

The patch installs updated versions of the following files, located in

    C:\%SYSTEMROOT%\system32
    crypt32.dll
    cryptdlg.dll
    cryptui.dll
    gdi32.dll
    mf3216.dll
    msasn1.dll
    mscat32.dll
    msgina.dll
    mssip32.dll
    ntoskrnl.exe
    schannel.dll
    softpub.dll
    user32.dll
    win32k.sys
    winsrv.dll
    wintrust.dll

Hmm you'd probably have to contact Sybase support on that one, unless anyone here has encountered that issue and resolved it. If you don't find anything on Google, that's probably unlikely.
    Thanks,

If you want to keep using 5.5, then I suggest at least move to 5.5.05.2714.

I have not seen many issues reported on this last available release of SQL ANy and Remote.
